Atletico Fustal announce new technical director

​We are excited to announce that we have hired Coach Daniel Berdejo as the new Technical Director of the Atlético Futsal Club.  Dr. Berdejo has a huge wealth of experience and knowledge of futsal at the various levels of futsal - from working with community programs to develop the game, all the way to international futsal with several National Teams.  Most recently, Daniel was the Director of Performance and Sports Scientist for the Libyan National Team.  Within the Bay Area, he worked at Bay Area Futsal Club on the peninsula.
 
Dr. Berdejo will be the lead trainer and director of the program while developing the curriculum for our Spring Programs and beyond, while we look to integrate futsal into the Tri-Valley community in a variety of ways - from Elite Youth Futsal, Community Futsal, Specialized Camps and Programs, as well as the possibilities of league, tournament, and travel through futsal.  As a lifelong player and educator of futsal, we look forward to introducing you to his futsal training, tactical knowledge, and developing the cross-connections with soccer as well.   
 
One of the best parts of adding Coach Berdejo to the Atlético Technical Staff is his educational background, whereby he can help shape the ideas of integrating futsal into coach development experiences we are embracing with all of our staff.
 
Joining Dr. Berdejo in the Atlético Futsal coaching staff with be Marcelo Antonelli, AFC Director of Methodology and author of "Soccer Powered by Futsal", Nelson Santana, current USSF Futsal National Team player, and a host of additional coaches who specialize in technical skill development and have a passion for the youth futsal experience - Fusion DOC Greg Rubendall, Fusion TD Alec Taylor, Fusion Staff Coaches Rico Virchis and Lauren Pien, and others as the program grows.
 
About Dr. Daniel Berdejo-del-Fresno 
Daniel Berdejo-del-Fresno is a multi-sports coach, sport scientist, strength & conditioning coach, researcher, and write.  He holds an Undergraduate Degree in PE and a Master's Degree in Exercise & Sport Science from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) and a PhD in Sport Performance from Manchester Metropolitan University (UK). 
Daniel's futsal career started in his native home of Spain, where he played growing up as many kids do. He began coaching futsal at the Manchester Futsal Club, Salford University Futsal Club, and Sheffield FC Futsal before he became the Head of Coaching & Sport Science at the International Futsal Academy in Loughborough (UK). Between 2011 and 2016 he worked for The FA as Sport Scientist and Assistant Coach for the England National Futsal Teams (Senior, U23s and U19s). Since 2016, he has lived in California where he is the Head of Performance for the Bay Area Futsal Club. Recently, he was the assistant coach/sport scientist for the Libyan Futsal National Team in the last African Futsal Cup of Nations (Layounne, 2020).  
His passion for sharing his futsal knowledge has boosted him to travel around the world delivering coaching courses, seminars, clinics and camps. Also, he has written 2 futsal books that can be found on the website freely.
